Face mask, vaccination verification modifications announced

Wednesday, February 16, 2022

On Monday, February 14, 2022, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the verification of patrons having at least one (1) vaccination against COVID-19 by alcohol establishments will become optional effective at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16.

Additionally, patrons will no longer be required to wear face masks to enter an alcohol licensed establishment effective at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1.

Licensees may continue to set vaccination verification and face mask wearing requirements at their discretion. Those that do are strongly encouraged to post signage clearly visible to patrons advising them of the establishment’s policy.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board will adopt updated emergency rulemaking on Wednesday, March 2.

Accordingly, ABRA will publish the final roster detailing violations of recent Mayor’s Orders and ABC emergency rulemaking on March 1.
