108 ABC Establishments Registered to Stay Open Later During Inaugural Week

Friday, January 13, 2017
District law allows establishments to register to sell alcohol until 4 am from Jan. 14-22.

(Washington, DC) – A total of 108 District restaurants, bars, hotels and other on-premises establishments are registered to sell alcohol until 4 am during inaugural week, which runs from Jan. 14-22.

A list of participating establishments is available online. Members of the public are encouraged to check directly with a registered establishment on its planned operating hours.

District law allows on-premises establishments to register with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) to sell and serve alcohol until 4 am and operate up to 24 hours a day during inaugural week. This is the third inauguration that establishments have been permitted to extend hours. As part of this year’s inauguration, eligible establishments could register to participate for up to nine days, including two weekends.

Any establishment registered to extend hours during inaugural week is required to post an ABRA-issued inaugural license in a conspicuous place on the licensed premises from Jan. 14-22. In addition, a restaurant is required to keep its kitchen open at least two hours before closing. As a result, a registered restaurant serving alcohol until 4 am is required to serve food until 2 am.

Registration for inaugural week extended hours ended on Jan. 9. In order to register, establishments were required to submit a registration form and public safety plan as well as pay a daily registration fee to ABRA.

An on-premises establishment with closing-hour restrictions is not eligible to participate in extended hours. In addition, liquor stores, grocery stores and other off-premises establishments are prohibited from participating.

Information regarding inaugural week is available at Inauguration.DC.Gov. Licensees that have questions can contact ABRA’s Licensing Division by calling (202) 442-4423 or emailing
