On March 3, 2021, ABRA announced the availability of five (2) medical cannabis facility registrations, including:
- Two (2) testing laboratories. All Wards eligible except for Ward 5 as the cap has been reached.
- One (1) dispensary registration. Only eligible for Wards 3 and 5.
- Two (2) cultivation centers. All Wards eligible except for Ward 5 as the cap has been reached.
Letter of Intent Period
The original Letter of Intent open period was from 9:00 a.m. EST on March 22-12:00 p.m. EST on April 21. The public notice was published in the DC Register and on ABRA’s website. ABRA also emailed guidance to its subscriber lists and hosted a virtual information session.
The letter of intent open period was extended to 12:00 p.m. ET on May 21 in response to the DC Council’s adoption of the Medical Cannabis Emergency Amendment Act of 2021. The extension allowed newly eligible persons sufficient time to apply. As previously, ABRA posted the public notice in the DC Register and on its website and emailed updated guidance.
Persons who submitted letter of intents were notified of their eligibility to submit a formal application starting July 30.
ABRA received a total of 199 Letter of Intents and issued 176 approvals and 23 denials.
The application filing period will open at 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, November 29, 2021 and close at 12:00 p.m. EST on Monday, March 28, 2022.The original filing window was Monday, October 18 - Friday, December 17, 2021.
Applications will be distributed to all parties previously determined to be eligible to submit an application by email in mid-November. Additionally, ABRA will host a virtual application information session on Tuesday, November 30 at 10:30 a.m. EST. Registration details will be included in the application announcement email. .
Applications received prior to or after the filing window will be rejected without notice.
