Overview
A dispensary is a licensed establishment that may possess and dispense medical cannabis and paraphernalia to licensed patients and caregivers. The medical cannabis sold by a dispensary is provided to them by a DC-licensed and located medical cannabis cultivator.

Eligibility
Dispensaries may not be:
- Located within 300 feet of a school or recreation center
- Co-located with any other type of business
- Located in a residential district
Applicants must meet general qualification requirements including good character, having no felony convictions, and being at least 21 years of age.
Licensed physicians that make patient recommendations are not eligible.
To Apply or Renew
Applications are only accepted during open application windows.
A point process system is used to award dispensary licenses. Considerations include location, staffing, security, inventory, and neighborhood impact.
A letter of intent is required.
Valid Period and Fees
A dispensary registration is valid for one (1) year. An annual fee applies. See Fee and Renewal Schedule.
