Applications

Follow the topics below to see the various license and endorsements applications available from ABRA. Once you have completed the appropriate documentation, we recommend that you contact an ABRA Licensing Specialist at (202) 442-4423 before you come to the ABRA offices. Licensing personnel can save you a trip by confirming beforehand that you have everything you need.

Endorsement Applications

ABRA grants three main types of endorsements: entertainment, sidewalk café, and summer garden. Endorsements give your establishment permission to offer live entertainment (such as a DJ or live band) and to serve alcoholic beverages in a sidewalk café or summer garden. A tasting endorsement (often referred to as a tasting permit) is also available. For brew pub and off-site storage endorsements, contact an ABRA Licensing representative.

Ownership and Name Changes

Many ownership and name changes are not considered “substantial” changes to a license (which would require a 45-day “placard period” to give area residents the opportunity to protest the proposed license change). If you are planning to make any of the license changes below, check with an ABRA Licensing representative to see whether the change would be considered substantial.

Exception to Single Sales Ban

According to the "Mt. Pleasant, Targeted Ward 2 and Targeted Ward 6 Single Sales Moratorium Congressional Review Emergency Act of 2008", licensees have the opportunity to apply for an exception to the restrictions prohibiting licensees from dividing a manufacturer’s package of more than one container of beer, malt liquor, or ale to sell an individual container of the package if the individual container is 70 ounces or less. Licensees in ANC 2C, ANC 2F, and ANC 6C09 may apply to the ABC Board for an exception.
