Daylight Savings Hour Extension Form Is Now Available
Licensees who wish to register must complete and submit the attached registration form by Thursday, March 10, 2011.
On February 15, 2011, the Council of the District of Columbia approved the "Daylight Savings Time Extension of Hours Emergency Act of 2011". The Bill allows eligible on-premise retailers to register with ABRA by Thursday, March 10,2011 to sell and serve alcoholic beverages during the beginning of daylight savings time between 3 and 4 am on Sunday, March 13, 2011. We have been informed by the Mayor that he has signed the Bill and this letter serves to advise you of the required procedures for registering with ABRA.
To register with ABRA you must complete and submit the attached registration form by Thursday, March 10, 2011. ABRA will be notifying MPD of all registered establishments. In order to be eligible for the additional hour, you either must: (1) not have a voluntary agreement or (2) possess a voluntary agreement without any restrictions on your hours. On-premise establishments with voluntary agreements containing restrictions on their operating hours are not eligible to register for the extended hours permitted under the Bill.
The fee to register is $100. Upon completion of your registration, you will receive a separate daylight savings time license from ABRA that needs to be posted at your establishment next to your permanent license during the evening of Saturday, March 12, 2011 through the morning of Sunday, March 13, 2011.
If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please contact ABRA Program Manager Tiwana Hicks, at (202) 442-4359. You must register in writing with ABRA by Thursday, March 10, 2011 to be eligible to operate and sell and serve alcoholic beverages during the additional hour set forth in the Bill.
